Well it is the holiday season once again, and we hope your merry social media profile is coming along. The holidays are a busy time of year, and often the dentist gets lost in the mix. We do have some powerful social media tools at our fingertips to remind the public that they still have teeth during the month of December. The holidays are also a time of added charity. We can use our social media know how to help get the word out for some of our favorite charities. So what do we need to do?
Be sure to utilize your event features on Facebook and LinkedIn. These are built in features for your fan page and profile. I would suggest to send out an end of the year insurance reminder event. As most of you know many dental insurances re-up in January. We always have a mad dash at the end of the year when people realize their insurance runs out. Let them know early this year with your Facebook and LinkedIn event. The great thing about using a social media platform to send out this message is the viral potential. Be sure to add your web address many times in the description and encourage recipients to let their friends know about it too.
In our office we are collecting Toys for Tots, and we are collecting food for the Richmond food bank. Many of you are probably doing something similar this holiday season. You can also use your event tools to tell fans and connections about your charity and give their website. You can also list your business hours and how long you will be collecting items. Many practices also have some type of incentive to drive traffic. This also has viral potential. Be sure to list your address and website address. Encourage them to pass the event on to their friends. Ask them to help get the word out. It will drive traffic to your fan page and help you collect as many items as possible.
Twitter is also a great way to get the word out about your end of year activities. Although twitter does not have an event application built in, it is an effective way to get the word out. Tweet about your cause or your event and be sure to list your web address. Change it up every so often and list the URL for your Facebook or LinkedIn event. Visit http://tinyurl.com to shorten the URL for twitter. If you have linked your Facebook and Twitter you won’t have to worry about it.
Have a great holiday, help someone, and be successful!
