No Fake reviews ever!

by Jason on January 10, 2012

fake reviews
I had a new patient come in today.  The hygienist informed me that they had found our office on the internet.   I introduced myself as a I entered the room to check him, and brought up his method of locating us.  Playfully he said “It was because of all your fake reviews!”  I said “Oh no, not here.”  He said “I know, but I was looking at another dentist and I discovered that he had fake reviews.”

My hygienist jumped in and said “How do you know that they are fake?”  The patient replied, “Well you click on the name that left the review and you can see where that person has reviewed.   Funny how some people have been to four dental offices in one day! I dont’ think that is very honest.  Do you?”

This patient was deterred from another practice because of a dishonest review practice.  As consumers become more internet savvy they will start to investigate their decisions more and more.  They will also become familiar with how the review process works and when to spot a phony.

Gaining reviews can be an arduous task, but it is a necessity in this day and age.  Consumers base many of their decisions on online reviews.  A nice body of reviews can also dilute the occasional bad review.

Leaving fake reviews or hiring a SEO company to leave fake reviews can land you in hot water with the Federal Trade Commission and even the local Board of Dentistry.  Do you want to face possible fines, jail, or loss of license just for some reviews??   NO!   Don’t believe companies who tell you that fake reviews are alright, because they aren’t!

This person was quite busy, they went to New Hampshire, Delaware, Florida, and Canada all in one day!  Screen shot 2012-01-10 at 1.21.38 PM

You need to stay above board at all times.  Risking your practice for something so simple is just not worth it.  To learn how to generate honest reviews and maintain your Google listing, visit http://www.missingbusiness.com/google-reviews.php.

Google throws everyone a curve

July 22, 2011

Google has made some big changes again!  It really comes as no surprise, because Google can often change on a dime.  The local results page many of us dentists rely on has changed.  Changed big time.  The reviews that most of us worked so hard to generate are not quite visible anymore.  NO ONE saw [...]

Are you using the right keywords in your Social Media.

July 19, 2011

Yesterday I read a great article on branded vs non branded keywords.  Now I can’t find it!  It did start my thinking process of how we should use branded vs non branded keywords in our efforts as a dentist.
First off, let’s discuss keywords.  Keywords are words or phrases used to search for something on Google [...]
